Kenya’s Feed the Future (FTF) 2011-2015 strategy builds upon the experience and results of previous programs, most notably the Initiative to End Hunger in Africa and the Global Food Security Response. Thus, in its formulation, the strategy incorporates best practices and lessons learned over several years. It is focused on, innovation seeking and aims to find what works and bring s it to scale. The private sector will be a partner in the USG’s efforts from the beginning; as it develops new partnerships with Government of Kenya (GOK) institutions it will ensure that the private sector has a seat at the table. This strategy will follow the GOK’s lead in aligning behind the country’s agricultural sector development plan and will work with other development partners to harmonize procedures and encourage shared learning and resource leveraging. It will support analytical work to inform policy-makers and strengthen advocacy efforts. Furthermore, the strategy will explicitly link agricultural sector transformation with improvement in nutrition.
